Something's Fishy

If you’re tired of the usual stuff on your plate like pork, beef and chicken, here’s a little something different; something fishy... but delightful! The Iloilo Fish Port Complex is the center of marine products processing and where the heart of fish trading and hauling happens. Located in Brgy. Baybay Tanza, it displays a cavalry of top notch and fresh marine riches from “pasayan” (shrimp) to “lukon” (prawn), “banagan” (lobster), from “lukos” (squid) to “pugita” (octopus), from “bangrus” (milkfish) to “lison” (trevally), “tamodios” (scad) and a long list follows.

Of course you won’t expect a flambouyant ambience when you get there. The place may not be very aromatically pleasing but the food offered to those who visit is succulent! Across the market area where the fishes are held is a display of carenderia who welcomes visitors that would want to have a taste of the Ilonggo cuisine. All you have to do is buy fresh products from the market and have the carenderia owners cook them for you either fresh from the grill or served as soup broth for as low as P50.00-P100.00 per menu.

Most of the people who visit here are call center agents taking their breaks or people coming from an early mass because the stove gets busy around 12am-3am. Aside from the fact that the place is within the city and very accesible through a cab or tryke, no doubt that the food is fresh and very cost efficient. If you have P300.00-P500.00, you will already have a jam-packed full-throttled table filled with fresh and luscious marine catch.
