Aside from the majestic splendor that it holds, is the equally majestic story behind…Majestic Mararison. According to legend, told by our guide while hiking the hills of Mararison, Madja-as and Kanlaon who are happily married had 3 ill-mannered children; Mararison (the disobedient one), Batbatan (the contradicting one) and Maningning (the vain one). One Sunday morning, instead of going to church as orginally planned, the three chose to flee to a neighboring island to join a “baile” (social dance gathering) without letting their parents know. Overwhelmed with grief, the parents cursed the children, shouted towards the sea like rumbling thunder about to crush the waters in half. All of a sudden, the weather changed drastically and the boat where the three were aboard, capsized; they were devoured by the unforgiving sea. As the clouds cleared, 3 unknown islands sprung from nowhere. It is believed that these islands are the three ill- mannered children of Madja-as and Kanlaon reminding people of the power of love and magnitude of hate of parents towards their children.

Out of these three islands, Mararison is the most visited and sought after by tourists from afar. The exquisiteness of the island is undemanding. It’s quiet, subtle and calm atmosphere sets it apart from other crowded beaches and resorts that already exist. Here is some of the to-do list if you plan to visit:

This landmark is very prominent in the island and it stretches 100 meters from the beach; A perfect place to bathe and splash. This is where locals and tourists meet as one.
