When it's your first time in Iloilo, the first thing that you should try is a nice, hot and welcoming bowl of the infamous Lapaz Batchoy. Batchoy is a noodle soup made from chicken or beef stock, round noodles (miki), pork innards, beef loin and crunchy crushed pork cracklings that Ilonggo's are very much proud to call the mother of all delicacies of Iloilo City.

A lot of stores have claimed that their's is original but there's one that stands out from the others based on my palate's experience. Popoy's Original Lapaz Batchoy is a must visit place if your looking for something really original. Every store in Iloilo has the same serving but there's something from Popoy's that's different. The place where it is situated is not that fancy because it's inside the market place and not inside an air conditioned facility. All the time, you have to wait for other costumers to finish because a lot of people dine here everyday.

Situated at the heart of the city inside Central Market, they not only serve batchoy but also Bihon and Misua perfectly complimeted with puto on the side. It's not only affordable but also heavenly delicious that would keep you coming back for more.
